In 1827 the Governor Ready carried smugglers from Kent’s Aldington Gang to Van Diemen’s Land.
Among the smugglers were two of my ancestors, Thomas Gilham and Richard Higgins. Richard’s brother-in-law, Samuel Bailey, was also on board, as was the Gang’s former leader, George Ransley.
Over time I have collected quite a bit of information about the gang which I will progressively publish here.
