Lynne’s Family

Welcome to my web site.  This site is designed to share the stories in my family’s history.  My family tree is available  at Ancestry.com.au.  If for some reason you are unable to access my tree, please send me an email so that I can give you access.

My ancestors arrived in Van Diemen’s Land from England, Ireland and Scotland in the nineteenth century. Some arrived as convicts, often convicted of crimes that we would describe as ‘petty theft’ today. A few of my convict ancestors were smugglers from Kent, involved in the demise of the then notorious Aldington Gang.

Others chose to migrate to the colony in the hope of establishing better lives than they had as labourers in England and Scotland.

Over time I will add information about my family history on these pages.

If you have any comments or can contribute any photographs or stories, I would love to hear from you.  Please comment on the pages throughout this site or send me an email.
